Go Smile Double Action Whitening System Review
The Go Smile Double Action Teeth Whitening kit has a new formula, which according to regular customers is an improvement. Having not tested the originals it’s not possible for us to say. However, the new formula does come at a price. The new teeth whitening treatment is substantially more expensive than previous versions of Go Smile teeth whitening kits.
The new Double Action kit is sold with 24 ampules containing Hydrogen Peroxide solution, which is enough for 12 days of teeth whitening treatments. Application is quick, easy and straightforward. You just need to press down in two places to break the ampules and fill up the nozzle and then you paint it on your teeth. The tubes contain two compounds; one to do the whitening and another to speed up the action of the product. The ampules also contain Xylitol which helps to reduce plaque formation on the teeth
Easy to Use
Application is quick and simple although you should make sure you dry your teeth before applying the Hydrogen Peroxide solution. Once the mix is painted on the teeth it has to be left there for 20 minutes, and the treatment needs to be performed twice a day for 6 days.
One problem you will find with this kit – and other teeth whitening pens – is it is difficult to whitening the back of the teeth. This may not be a problem for you since the back of your teeth are not usually visible, but it is not as thorough a treatment as gel whitening kits with mouth trays. The same problem arises with the outside of your molars, which is more of an issue. Also, if you are right handed the pen is easy to use on you right side, but awkward on the left and vice versa. A notable absence is a teeth color chart. The kit is not cheap, but paper and printing is, so it is a little perplexing why a chart is not included.
Powerful Hydrogen Peroxide – Use with Care
With the power of the Hydrogen Peroxide comes a problem. This solution can really hurt your gums and cause teeth sensitivity, certainly in our test subject’s case. The pen system is easy to apply to the front of the teeth but it is difficult not to get at least a little bit of the liquid on the gums. If you get the solution on your gums, it really burns and no lip or gum protecting balm is included.
The Test Results
The whitening effect is moderate to good although this will depend on the extent and cause of your staining. In spite of the strength of the whitening liquid, from our test subject’s point of view, the full 12-day treatment is needed. The 6-day (12-ampule pack) will not have much of a whitening effect. That means that you need to buy the $100+ kit, making this treatment very expensive. The kit is well over double the price of many teeth whitening at home kits that are equally good if not better.
The verdict? You do get a reasonable teeth whitening effect, but a considerable pocket lightening effect too.
