Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips Review
Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips contain 20% Carbamide Peroxide which converts to Hydrogen Peroxide to bleach the teeth white. The concentration of this active ingredient is not as strong as that used in many teeth whitening gel kits, but the concentration is higher than some popular competitor brands. This is great for speed. The shade of the teeth can be improved quickly and in just 5 days you should see a noticeable improvement in the whiteness of your teeth; other brands can take double that time to achieve the same effect. Unfortunately, if you have sensitive teeth the high concentration may be too much for you to bear.
Using Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips
The problem with teeth whitening strips is they do not whiten all surfaces of the teeth. The surfaces between the teeth are particularly difficult to whiten with films and strips. Sheer White gets around this issue by supplying a tool which you can use to push the strips into any gaps between the teeth. This does help to ensure a full whitening effect can be achieved reasonably easily. The instructions state that you can wear the strips throughout the night to whiten the teeth while sleeping; however this is not recommended and you should stick to a 2-hour treatment. 8 hours of Hydrogen Peroxide whitening in one session is too long. A 2-hour session is a much better option to reduce the chance of developing tooth sensitivity.
Better coverage than rival brands
Another plus over competitor brands is the size of the strips. Other brands make narrow and short strips that do not cover all the teeth. Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips are quite big so they will give full coverage to even big front teeth. They can also be folded over to get the top surface of the teeth whitened and a little of the rear surface can be covered by folding them over (depending on the size of your teeth). They are however, not going to give you the total tooth coverage as quality gel kits do. One problem you may face is that the strips can dry out easily rendering them useless. To minimize the chance of this happening you should keep them in the refrigerator.
The Verdict on Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips
Overall Sheer White Professional Whitening Strips are not a bad product and the design is better than many competitor brands which use this method to let you whiten teeth at home. The strips do adhere very well to the teeth, provided you brush, floss and dry the teeth thoroughly before you apply them to your teeth. In fact, removing the strips can be a little difficult. The large size is good for coverage, but applying them is a little awkward. This is a 5-day treatment, when many kits require 10-12 days of treatment which will save you time and effort, however this can be at the expense of sensitive teeth. The strong peroxide can cause bad teeth sensitivity, although if you are very careful when applying the film on your teeth, gum problems can be reduced. As for the all important question: Is the whitening effect any good? Lab tests show up to 5 shades, our research only showed 2-3 shades so you get fair to moderate teeth whitening.
